The Washington DC area is one of the best metro areas for bike riding. If you are going there on business or
pleasure take or rent a bicycle. Bicycles are allowed on the metro normally. There is an extensive network of off-street
bike paths in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. It's all pretty flat. There are several places to rent bikes
but don't expect much. Bring your own gear, helmets, etc. Try the Yellow Pages for Bicycle Rentals, the Thompson
Marina, NPS, rents mountain bikes. There are some companies that will deliver a bike to your hotel with helmet
etc.
